Sometimes, our definition of prayers being answered by Allah are only those that we can see or feel especially with our 5 senses. We tend to forget that many things are being answered in ways we didn't even notice. For example, what is happening inside our body system. But yet, still Allah gives us the things that we forgot to make du'a for. 

So, I guess this saying is right, "Allah loves you and knows you more than you love and know yourself" 

"And We have already created man and know what his soul whispers to him, and We are closer to him than [his] jugular vein"
(Surah Qaf : 16)
