Just finished Dalam Dekapan Ukhuwwah. (so cancel that out from the list.)
I bought this before I started my 2nd semester of 1st year degree. Planned to read it when I got back to Kuantan. So, that 2nd semester has ended and I'm currently having my break. So, regarding the time I spent to read it, I'm proudly letting you to do the maths..
Salim A. Fillah is certainly in one of my favourite authors' list. If you look up on the internet, you'll definitely going to find people giving a review on him regarding the way he write and his usage of words. The words are sometimes funny, true and very thoughtful.
I can say that this book can be categorised as motivational, conveyed in a very laid back manner whereby anyone from any age can enjoy. He also injected some elements of seerah of Prophet Muhammad SAW and the stories of the sahabah. When I read them, I realised that there are still a lot that is unknown to me about the seerah of my own prophet. T_T. But this inspires me to read more, because there is so much you can learn from them. Sometimes I think that all the things that I already know are only just one side to a certain story. And when Salim A. Fillah includes some stories that I haven't heard of before, a dialogue bubble suddenly appeared above my head saying, "What have you been reading throughout your life?!!" exaggeration mode
He also includes some of his personal experience from his travellings and even his conversation with a taxi driver. He is a man who take notes of everything, like seriously..
Other than that, he also mentioned about a few scenes from movies that he had watched. Red Cliff for example. A Chinese movie and guess what, I stumbled upon a video of a scene from that movie. Check this out, is this amazing or what..
Go click and watch if you have the time. And be sure to take out some lessons from it. Learn from them.
I can tell that he reads a lot by looking at the excerpts included from books that he had read. I'm amazed by people who can read a lot and be able to take out something from what they have read and share it with others. It becomes extra special when they can elaborate more and relate it with their own lives. And if you're a speed reader, that's a bonus. Sorry, I'm not in the speed-reading club. I would say that I like to take things one step at a time, read things carefully, line by line. Skipping pages is totally a no-no to me. Another reason is maybe because you will not find me re-reading a certain book. So, reading it slowly lets you cherish the moment so that later you won't indulge in the same book again and spend time on it. But sometimes I might be flipping on a few pages after that, just to look into those that I've marked which contain parts that I favoured. So, salute to you speed readers!! ^_^
was this post actually about speed reading??
In conclusion, that 400++ page book is worth to be read by ANYONE.
